Stabroek Travel is CPL travel sponsor

Cricket fans in Canada and the rest of the world considering attending this year’s Hero-sponsored Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Twenty/20 tournament can access travel and accommodation packages through Stabroek Travel that is the league’s official travel sponsor.

A total of six franchises will compete in the 31-day tournament starting on August 31 in St. Kitts & Nevis.

Matches will also be played in St. Lucia from September 7 to 11 and Trinidad & Tobago from September 13 to 18. Between September 21 and 30, Guyana will host seven group games along with the two qualifiers, the eliminator and the final.

Stabroek Travel is a division of Stabroek Online Marketplace (SOM) that is a subsidiary of Integrated Group Inc. (Guyana) created by Canadian entrepreneur Anthony Whyte who is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Oakville-based Go Integrated Group of Companies.

“After two years of travel restrictions because of the pandemic, this is a great opportunity for Canadians and people around the world to take advantage of this great opportunity and experience an exciting brand of cricket,” he said. “We are taking advantage of our unique platform that offers direct access to tour and travel services that build travel preference and deliver value for our travelers and vendors.”

A few months ago, Stabroek Travel blocked nearly 200 hotel rooms in Guyana for fans planning to attend CPL matches in the South American country. Just over 50 percent have been sold.

“We did that to catapult our company into a high density market and bring awareness to our software,” said Whyte who played club cricket in the Greater Toronto Area. “The CPL liked the concept and brought us on board.”

In addition to cricket, vacationers with an interest in an ecotourism adventure in Guyana can make bookings through Stabroek Travel for days trips and longer stays.

“We have so many beautiful destinations in the interior of the country that many people are not aware of because of inadequate marketing,” said Whyte who migrated from Guyana in 1982. “Individuals with a specific interest in an attractive outdoor adventure while causing minimal disruption to the local environment will enjoy this type of unique vacation. We have carefully vetted travel agents that will guide you through the program once you contact them through our website.”

Last May, SOM – an E-Commerce website -- was launched to connect Guyanese businesses with global buyers.

“This platform is designed to showcase Guyanese products across the world,” Whyte pointed out. “All the products that we are promoting on our platform have met local and international standards.”

Comprising nine divisions, Go Integrated Group of Companies provides a suite of amenities ranging from global logistics and executive recruitment to commercial real estate and financial services.

As part of its expansion to international markets, the company rebranded recently and changed its name.

In 2005, Whyte and a partner (he used a shotgun clause to buy out the associate in 2014) started Go Logistics that was ranked 277th in 2019 on the 30th annual Growth List by Canadian Business and Maclean’s.
